An Adjunct Instructor is a faculty member who provides core content instruction to students based upon the UMA standardized curriculum to promote student development and mastery of foundational academic and professional competencies. This position manages online student information, grades coursework for assigned courses, implements institutional initiatives and follows institutional policies and procedures while delivering quality instruction and ensuring student satisfaction. An Adjunct Instructor-Faculty works in tandem with faculty and program leadership to maximize academic achievement, retention, certification, graduation, and placement outcomes and ensure overall health and integrity of UMA programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Teaches material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedules and deadlines to assure an appropriate level of student satisfaction.
Effectively prepares for each week of instruction and demonstrates proficiency with all relevant software, course content and materials.
Establishes and maintains a positive, student-centered learning environment by exemplifying proper online decorum and integrity and requiring the same of students.
Instructs students on matters related to academics, attendance, career readiness and professionalism.
Proactively monitors students’ achievement and actively outreaches to at-risk students to ensure course persistence as well as program retention.
Creates and implements curricular scaffolding tools and materials to match student learning styles and academic needs, supplementing those provided in the core curriculum.
Monitors and evaluates the student’s work against stated learning outcomes and works with students so that a full achievement level is attained.
Grades all assignments and posts final grades in a timely manner.
Provides students with feedback in a constructive and positive manner highlighting both strengths and areas in need of improvement.
Demonstrates ability to consistently meet key performance indicators related to student outreach, engagement and documentation.
Provides feedback and refinement recommendations to Program Leadership regarding curriculum, resources and support services based upon expertise in subject area, current industry trends and student performance and engagement indicators.
Effectively communicates by email, telephone, virtual and face-to-face meetings with students, instructors, supervisors, and/or other school personnel.
Remains responsive to student needs and student requests for support.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance within courserooms and hosts frequent office hours and individual one-to-one sessions.
Attends and participates in required school meetings and assists Department and Program Leadership as needed.
Maintains an up-to-date faculty file in accordance with UMA policy, state regulations and accrediting commission requirements including required meetings, in-services and continuing education units.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by Department and Program Leadership and assigned to ensure the smooth functioning and integrity of schools operations.
Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the Instructor:
Keeps accurate attendance records.
Meets class at specified time and date, and instructs class for entire scheduled period.
Is fully prepared for each class and familiar with all relevant software and text material.
Adjusts the class material to the learning style and knowledge of the individual, and provides feedback/modification ideas to administration regarding the content, appropriateness, and length of current curriculum.
Creates a learning environment where students are valued and encouraged to learn.
Monitors and evaluates the student’s work against stated learning outcomes, and works with the student so that a full achievement level is attained.
Grades, posts, and returns all production assignments in a timely manner. Comments to the student should be phrased in a positive, constructive manner, highlighting both strengths and areas in need of improvement.
Provides students with an understanding of how they will use the class material in a work environment.
Maintains the classroom software materials.
Attends school meetings.
Completes other administrative tasks and duties as assigned, such as conducting workshops or tutorials.
Performs any additional tasks requested by the School Director or Instructional Supervisor to ensure the smooth functioning and integrity of the school’s operations.
