Purpose of the Position


Ultimate Medical Academy seeks to add a Manager of Communications to our team. This team member will produce original content to build and reinforce UMA’s reputation internally and externally. The candidate will collaborate with the Senior Director of Communications, the Vice President of Marketing and other executives to further UMA’s mission and standing with key stakeholders and the public. Ideal candidates will have previously served in similar roles, have experience writing internal emails, press releases, blogs, and content for websites as well as conducting reputation management activities, and seek an opportunity to help shape the future of a dynamic and successful institution.

We are seeking an additional member to help us position UMA so that the institution is widely recognized for excellence in healthcare education and student outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work with a knowledgeable and experienced staff leveraging a wide variety of technology and resources, all while having access to a school with a vibrant and diverse community of learners.









  • Writing internal emails and newsletters.
  • Writing press releases and articles for our blog and external publications on a wide variety of topics.
  • Working with SMEs across the school to help publish articles, blog posts, and develop presentations for conferences.
  • Managing UMA’s online reputation via various review websites.
  • Documenting student, alumni, staff, and employer testimonials.
  • Working with the creative and copy teams to develop infographics, fact sheets, collateral, presentations and materials that showcase UMA and our community of learners.
  • As needed, support internal and executive communications aligned with UMA’s external communications strategy.
  • Serve as a resource to leaders in a consulting role to review their communication methods, styles and messages for internal and external communications.
  • Develop communication standards, guidelines, templates and tools.
  • Work with each department to develop training workshops to educate our team members on UMA facts, figures and key talking points.
  • Rapidly gain working knowledge of the industry and nonprofit communication landscapes.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.






Educational and Professional Experience Requisite Checklist

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Journalism (required).
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working full-time in Communications, with preference given to experience in a regulated field (Healthcare, Financial Services, Energy, Government) (desired).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (required).
  • SEO, advanced editing, including AP Style, and web copy best practices (required).
  • Ability to build relationships with other teams and manage deliverables (required)
  • Ability to present and express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to audience, whether verbal or written (required).
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and influence without formal authority (required).

Associated Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Project management software familiarity (preferred).
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Physical Demands

  • Office environment with some minor lifting (20 pounds) for events
