    Purpose of the Position

     

    Ultimate Medical Academy seeks to add a Senior Manager of Communications to our team to produce and distribute original content to build and reinforce UMA’s reputation internally and externally. The Senior Manager will collaborate with the Senior Director of Communications, the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, the Vice President of Marketing, and other executives to further UMA’s mission and standing with key stakeholders and the public. Ideal candidates will have previously served in similar roles, have experience writing internal emails, press releases, blogs, and content for websites as well as conducting reputation management activities, and seek an opportunity to help shape the future of a dynamic and successful institution.

The Senior Manager of Communications will help us position UMA so that the institution is widely recognized for excellence in healthcare education and student outcomes.     Responsibilities

    • Develop internal emails and newsletters, owning the end-to-end process from story ideation to writing and design, and overseeing distribution.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with executive leadership to proactively support employee engagement through their ongoing communications.
    • Serve as the key point of contact for the intranet, owning the ongoing homepage content and design and providing guidance to department content owners.
    • Develop annual internal communications strategy in partnership with the Sr. Director of Communications to align with overall communications strategy.
    • Make day-to-day content decisions autonomously on behalf of communications as needed; represent the Communications department on various corporate initiative committees.
    • Write press releases and articles to support UMA’s external communications.
    • Work with SMEs across the school to help publish articles, blog posts, and develop presentations for conferences.
    • Manage UMA’s online reputation via various review websites.
    • Document student, alumni, staff, and employer testimonials.
    • Collaborate with the Creative team to develop infographics, fact sheets, collateral, presentations and materials that showcase UMA and our community of learners.
    • Serve as a resource to leaders in a consulting role to review their communication methods, styles and messages for internal and external communications.
    • Develop communication standards, guidelines, templates and tools.
    • Work with each department to develop training workshops to educate our team members on UMA facts, figures and key talking points.
    • Rapidly gain working knowledge of the industry and nonprofit communication landscapes.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follow, all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, the Florida Commission for Independent Education, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
    • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
    • Educational and Professional Experience Requisite Checklist
    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Journalism (required)
    • Minimum of ten years’ experience working full-time in Communications, with preference given to experience in a regulated field (Healthcare, Financial Services, Energy, Government) (desired)
    • Familiarity with intranet design; content and graphic posting (required)
    • Proficient with SharePoint and Office 365 applications as a Content Management System (CMS) (required)
    • Strong communication and presentation skills (required)
    • Advanced editing, including AP Style, and web copy best practices (required)

    Associated Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Project management software familiarity (preferred)
    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

     

    Physical Demands

    • Office environment with some minor lifting (20 pounds) for events
