    Purpose of the Position:

    Manages a vertical and/or verticals of the Curriculum Team responsible for Curriculum Instructional Design and Technology.  Responsible for the leadership of assigned vertical(s) supporting a variety of Curriculum Team and Education Department initiatives such as implementation Quality Matters, NACE, Curriculum Working Groups, Curriculum Taskforce, Advisory Boards, Summit, Graduation, Program Taskforce, Instructional Design and Technology frameworks, Professional Development, etc.

     

    Monitors quality across the curriculum process including iterative analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Supports a continuous refinement model which incorporates subject matter expertise, peer review, purposeful design, engaging multimedia and technology elements, innovation, and overarching best practices to create the best learning experience for UMA students and graduates.

     

    Supports assigned team members and partners with peers and Senior Managers/Directors.

     

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    Teaming

    • Teams across Curriculum Instructional Design and Technology Team to support the design and development of centralized curriculum for courses such as assignments, discussion prompts, assessments, supplemental activities, interactives, videos, games, etc. and content utilized across the institution within areas such as Orientation, Sandbox, Student Resource Center, Alumni Platforms, and SharePoint.
    • Partners effectively with Vice Provost, Deans, Directors, Associate Directors, Senior Managers, Manager Peers, and program teams to increase program health, curriculum viability, instructor performance, and student achievement.
    • Partners with Senior Managers and Directors to build upon and refine specific vision and strategy for Curriculum Instructional Design and Technology.

     

     

    Training and Professional Development

    • Supports training and support for onboarding, orientation, and mentoring of new Curriculum Instructional Design and Technology team members, including Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialists, Multimedia Specialists, and Instructional Technologists.
    • Cross trains team members to successfully work within authoring tools, software, learning management systems, and other technologies to maximize efficiency and consistency across verticals.
    • Organizes and/or facilitates appropriate and engaging professional development opportunities.
    • Consistently facilitates 1-1 meetings with team members to promote personal, professional, and overall career growth.
    • Supports training-related initiatives and interrelated activities within the Education department and across departments to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications.

    Curriculum and Instructional Design

    • Oversees Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialists directly or partners with the manager leading this vertical
    • Supports the instructional design theories and frameworks used as the baseline for curriculum and instructional design
    • Facilitates professional development opportunities to support curriculum and instructional design
    • Facilitates team meetings, sharing important team updates as well as opportunities for team building, collaboration, and peer review and development.
    • Facilitates 1-1’s with direct reports, provides specific feedback and promotes growth, self-reflection, and independence across projects and initiatives
    • Quality monitors across all stages of continuous refinement and iterative design model
    • Supports Cross-training Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialists in a variety of authoring tools, software, and technologies to maximize efficiency and expand skill sets
    • Holds team members within this vertical to high expectations, accountability, and responsibility for their projects and content areas.
    • Encourages team members within this vertical to innovate, share ideas, test solutions, and collaborate.
    • Expects all team members to begin with the learner in mind and work backwards to design an efficient, effective solution to each question, idea, and problem.

    Instructional Technology and Multimedia

    • Oversees Instructional Technologists and Multimedia Specialists directly or partners with the manager leading this vertical
    • Supports the theories and frameworks used as the baseline for implementing instructional technology and multimedia elements into the curriculum.
    • Facilitates professional development opportunities to support instructional technology and multimedia.
    • Facilitates team meetings, sharing important team updates as well as opportunities for team building, collaboration, and peer review and development.
    • Facilitates 1-1’s with direct reports, provides specific feedback and promotes growth, self-reflection, and independence across projects and initiatives

    Leadership

    • Assumes leadership role in curriculum-related meetings, including Curriculum Taskforce, Curriculum Working Groups, Curriculum Team Meetings, etc.
    • Models online education best practices, effective teaching/coaching techniques and collegial, positive environment that promotes excellence in teaching and service.
    • Serves as a brand ambassador for the Curriculum Instructional Design and Technology Team, Education Department, and Ultimate Medical Academy and successfully represents each of these within the community, social media platforms, conferences, etc.
    • Ensures Curriculum Instructional Design and Technology Team members continue to grow and perform at a high level by partnering closely with peers, Senior Managers, and Directors.
    • Maintains an effective curriculum design and development framework which incorporates feedback from a range of stakeholders including program leadership, faculty, advisory boards, taskforce members, and cross department partners.
    • Maintains supervisory and technical knowledge of Curriculum and Instructional Design, Multimedia, and Instructional Technology by establishing and enhancing academic and professional networks, attending conferences and workshops, participating in professional associations and staying abreast of emerging issues and trends related to online learning.
    • Provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Senior Managers and/or Director.
    • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned/required.

     

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design and Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or Education is required (Master’s Degree preferred).
    • Education administrative and/or supervisory experience with curriculum and instruction and/or instructional design and technology is preferred.
    • Three (3) or more years of experience in online education or proprietary industry preferred.
    • Proven record of successful curriculum design and development experience with proven proficiency applying adult learning theory, universal design, and other theories/frameworks.
    • Online teaching and curriculum development experience in an accredited post-secondary institution is required.
    • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, required.
    • Experience working with Learning Management Systems is required.
    • Experience in instructional design and proprietary web development tools (i.e. Captivate, Storyline Articulate, Dreamweaver, etc.) is required.
