    Purpose of the Position

    This position is responsible for the systems implementation and management of IT systems in support of day to day IT operations at a 7x24 Higher Education institution.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting and / or leading in the requirements gathering, designing, testing, implementation, operational support, and re-engineering evaluation for enterprise technical solutions at UMA.

     

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ability to demonstrate knowledge or past skills adhering to federal and / or governmental compliance requirements and regulations
    • Effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical staff as appropriate
    • Efficient in quickly accessing and appropriately escalating technical concerns
    • Provides technical leadership, hands-on implementation skills, and extensive troubleshooting skills for complex infrastructure and day to day IT operations support of operating system and application issues.
    • Ability to demonstrate troubleshooting skills systemically, documentation of issues and working problems proactively out of the environment.
    • Proactively troubleshoots and implements solutions to ensure that all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements.
    • Participates in IT Security assessments, risk analysis and reporting.
    • Responsible for resolving system issues.
    • Monitor existing systems to ensure structural integrity
    • Oversee the development and installation of new hardware and software
    • Write custom scripts to reduce the need for human intervention
    • Ensure the safety of Information Systems Assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.
    • Weighs business needs against other concerns and articulates issues to management.
    • Develops and documents standard configurations, build and support processes and FAQs.
    • Serves as a liaison or technical resource for others in IT or to partners within other business units.
    • Ability to participate in a rotational and compensable 24/7 on call responsibility
    • May be required to lift 25 lbs. or more
    • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, Accrediting agency, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
    • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

     

    Education/Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other technical field, or relevant work experience.
    • Microsoft Certifications (MCSE) – required
    • Cisco Certification (CCNA) - preferred
    • 3+ years experience in supporting day to day IT Operations - required
    • 2+ years experience implementing and migrating enterprise – wide systems - required
    • 3+ years experience with AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS - required
    • 3+ years experience supporting and managing VMWare (required), Hyper-V (required), Windows Server 2012R2+, SCCM 2012 R2, SharePoint (preferred), Monitoring Solutions - required
    • 3+ years experience supporting and managing infrastructure devices LAN, WAN, VPN, SAN, Firewall, Switches, Routers, Server Hardware – required
    • 3+ years experience supporting and managing NetApp Storage appliances - required
    • 2+ years experience supporting and managing NetApp OnTap cloud solutions -highly preferred
    • 2+ years creating scripts for automating process improvements - required
    • 2+ years designing and implementing Identity and Access Management platforms like Microsoft Identity Manager -preferred
    • 5+ years experience maintaining systems deployed in private and hybrid cloud configurations – highly preferred
    • 5+ years experience in designing/documenting (visio)/deploying/testing business continuity plans for a large enterprise – highly preferred
    • 3+ years experience working with Active Directory Federation Services – preferred
    • 2+ years exposure working with Azure Active Directory – highly preferred
    • 2+ years experience administering Microsoft Office 365 - preferrred
    • Strong understanding of enterprise systems, application integration and the ability to quickly learn new software solutions - required
    • Experience with MS Remote Desktop Services implementation/administration – preferred
    • Experience with Security Patching administration via MS SCCM 2012R2 - required
    • Knowledge of ITIL framework, Strict Change Management, and Quality Assurance - preferred

     

     

     

     

    Associated Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

    • Proven troubleshooting skills with VMWare, Hyper-V, and Disaster Recovery Methodologies
    • Strong knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
    • Strong knowledge of VBScript, PowerShell, or other scripting / integration languages in a Windows 2012+/Windows 10 environment
    • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Networking, Security and Windows Server, and other Microsoft and third-party enterprise technologies is required.
    • Excellent customer service and work prioritization skills.
    • Experience developing and adhering to operational processes and procedures.
    • Ability to write operational and application documentation.
    • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem solving skills.
