Purpose of the Position:

 

Responsible for maintaining all Student Finance training materials and ensuring that they are up to date with changes in regulations. Provides ongoing support for the Student Finance Training Team. The Student Finance Training Manager guides, advises and supports UMA Team members as they develop skills and apply those skills in support of the UMA core values. Responsible for managing a team of Student Finance Training Team Leads and all new student facing team members.

 

UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. 

  • Anticipated starting salary of $69,000; pay rate negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Functional:

  • Creates and communicates a quarterly training plan and schedule.
  • Designs, develops, and delivers training sessions for Student Finance and Registrar regarding process, procedure, systems, and regulatory updates.
  • Creates and maintains all training materials for all new student finance hires.
  • Assists in evaluating all new hires after their 90-day onboarding period.
  • Assesses effectiveness of training classes by gathering feedback from trainers, trainees, and leadership after the completion of each class.
  • Assesses effectiveness of training sessions by gathering feedback from trainers and trainees after each session

Technical:

  • Ensures all new hires have a login, password, etc for all required systems. They should have all required systems access before they start on the floor.
  • Oversees onboarding requirements such as new team member tickets and office supply orders
  • Selects and utilizes appropriate training methods, software or activities based on the training topic

Support Institutional Initiatives:

  • Keeps current with institutional goals, objectives, and progress.
  • Engages in institutional sponsored activities and initiatives as appropriate.
  • Leads with courage in support of change initiatives that impact organization.
  • Assists in coordinating efforts between departments within UMA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Compliance:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
  • Stays up to date with all changes to Title IV and train on new FSA guidelines (Dear Colleague Letters, Electronic Announcements, NASFAA News, etc.)
  • Provides Title IV training to all new student finance hires. Provides UMA specific policies and procedures training to all new student finance hires

 

Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • One year in leadership position
  • Three years’ experience in training.
  • Working knowledge of Title IV regulations required.
  • Must not have a federal student loan appearing on the NSLDS database with an unresolved default status reported.
  • Must be eligible to access the National Student Loan Data Base (NSLDS).
  • Able to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • More than 1 year in leadership position.
  • Strong understanding of Title IV regulations and UMA Policies.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to different situations that may arise.
  • Ability to direct and lead a team virtually.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Ability to present information in an engaging and effective manner to a large group
  • Leads and manages with a results focused mentality.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a high-pressure environment with timeline pressures.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Past experience with CampusNexus.

Working Environment:

  • Fully remote role with only occasional, planned onsite or travel requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
  • Requires ability to travel.
  • Requires occasional bending, stooping, and squatting.
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
