Purpose of the Position:

The Training Specialist fulfills primary course facilitation responsibilities to cohorts of workforce learners as assigned.  The Training Specialist engages learners in the delivery of core content, evaluates student learning, provides pro-active and responsive academic support to learners, and serves as a subject matter expert for program alignment with industry standards.  The Training Specialist also fulfills the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) for course design/improvements as needed.  The Training Specialist reports to an instructional manager or Dean as assigned.

  • Anticipated starting rate of $750.00 per week

Key Responsibilities:

 

Functional: 

  • Represents Nasium Training to assigned learners in accordance with the established mission and values.
  • Facilitates centralized curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule through the online learning management system (LMS) and/or physical classroom as assigned.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with LMS tools, course content and materials.
  • Facilitates classroom discussion and online discussion forums to ensure student engagement and interaction.
  • Proactively monitors learner’s performance and actively outreaches as needed. 
  • Responds to student questions and concerns promptly.
  • Provides feedback in a constructive, positive, and timely manner.
  • Creates learning support tools to support students based on demonstrated needs.
  • Provides instruction in synchronous group sessions based on course content and delivery requirements.
  • Reviews and researches content, recommends improvements, and supports content development as a SME as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as requested to ensure effective curriculum and instruction.

Technical: 

  • Is regularly active in assigned course rooms and hosts weekly office hours.
  • Grades course activities and posts by established deadlines. 
  • Models netiquette and provides corrective feedback to students, as appropriate.
  • Maintains required licensure/certification in accordance with state regulations and Nasium Training requirements including required meetings, in-services, professional development, and continuing education credits.
  • Follows Student and Employee Code of Conduct and Scholastic Honesty policies.
  • Is responsive to Nasium Training leadership, staff, and students via email, telephone, and/or virtual or other communications per established expectations and timelines.

Compliance: 

  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to assigned manager.

 

Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:

 

Minimum Requirements:

Licensed Healthcare Agent (varies by state)

  • 2-40 License (Health Insurance) Required; Both 2-40 and 2-15 (Life Insurance) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 years LHA experience
  • State-specific licensing requirements to be defined if needed.

Medical Assistant (varies by state)

  • Training facilitators must hold an active Medical Assistant certification recognized by one or more of the states the training will be focused on.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a hospital and/or medical practice setting.

Basic/Limited X-ray Machine Operator (varies by state)

  • Training facilitators must hold an active license for Basic or Limited X-ray Machine Operator in one or more of the states the training will be focused on.
  • A minimum of three years of experience performing the responsibilities of an X-ray machine operator.

Pharmacy Technician (varies by state)

  • Training facilitators must hold an active license as a Pharmacy Technician in one or more of the states the training will be focused on.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.

Mental Health Foundations for Healthcare Professionals

  • Master’s degree in psychology, clinical social work, or a related field
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a counseling or a related mental health field connecting with individual clients or patients.

All Instructors 

  • Proficient verbal and written English  
  • Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems 
  • Experience with synchronous instructional tools 
  • Has knowledge of and experience with technological tools and software 
  • Success in applying adult learning principles and practices to online teaching 
  • Inspires students to meet their career goals using career connections and strategies 

 

Working Environment:

 

  • May work remote with the option of onsite in a shared workspace.  
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings and weekends as needed.  
  • Travel to Nasium locations may be required (amount tbd based on program)

 

Physical Demands:

  • Requires long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer 
  • Requires occasional bending, stooping, and squatting 
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
