Purpose of the Position:

 

The Senior Manager of Financial Systems is pivotal in defining, building, and enhancing financial applications to support the company’s business strategy and growth. This role leads administrative processes, system development, and delivering scalable financial solutions. Efficient management of both stakeholder relationships within Finance and IT and financial systems is crucial to meet business needs and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.

 

UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. 

  • Anticipated salary of $88,500-115,000; based on experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do:

  • Finance Process Optimization: Partner with Accounting and FP&A to drive simplification and standardization strategies across financial applications.
  • Requirements Gathering: Elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs through dialogue with business partners and key stakeholders.
  • Impact Analysis and Support: Perform impact analysis and support application testing, implementation, and training activities.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Maintain advanced knowledge of financial systems and act as the subject matter expert.
  • System Development: Analyze and develop financial system structures to support company growth, including integration of acquired companies and new business setups.
  • ERP Support: Support Finance ERP-related business processes in both legacy environments and new system implementations.
  • Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships, oversee scheduled upgrades, and identify opportunities for system improvements and enhancements.
  • Data Integration and Quality: Ensure efficient data exchange across systems, identify data quality issues, and work to resolve them through best practices.
  • Lead with Care: Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of wellness, recognition, and engagement. Meet regularly with direct reports in one-on-one and group settings to provide feedback and cultivate/maintain a positive work culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, accounting, finance or related, or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10+ years’ experience with heightened responsibility in IT core financial systems.
  • Experience in leveraging technology to improve finance processes.
  • Process-oriented with the ability to structure processes and related data across multiple entities.
  • Experience in defining, scoping, and managing process and technology initiatives.
  • Ability to gather, structure and analyze data from multiple data sources.
  • Strong understanding of advanced data analysis tools and querying languages (SQL)
  • Security focus - knowledge of what it takes to protect financial and member data.
  • Ability to play both a strategic and tactical role as a leader and demonstrate an ownership mentality.
  • Strong initiative-taker with a resilient, solution minded approach to complex problems
  • Ability to partner with others to simplify complex processes, break down barriers and incorporate the ideas of others.
  • Ability to manage priorities against multiple deadlines in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to launch, manage and deliver IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to develop and clearly articulate solution architecture and technology and lead teams via influence through ambiguity and complexity to a new way of working and to support program, process, and organizational improvements across the organization.
  • Natural curiosity to learn, ask questions, identify mistaken assumptions, and bring an open-minded approach.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.

  • Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Any degree or equivalent experience, especially in software engineering, computer science, or related.
  • Strong or advanced proficiency in any of the above required skills/experience.
  • Experience with Great Plains, Anaplan, or Jaggaer.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Other skills or abilities – higher ed technology, data, student information, and/or learning systems, like Anthology, Brightspace or similar.

Compliance: 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable state laws and rules, federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and internal policies and procedures.  
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department. 

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This is a full-time remote position, with only occasional, planned onsite or travel requirements.
  • Home office set up, quiet place to work, ability to be on camera, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
  • May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed
