Purpose of the Position:

 

As a Student Finance Processing & Operations Administrator, your mission is to ensure students receive their Title IV funds promptly and accurately. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting students’ financial well-being by managing disbursements, addressing inquiries, and providing personalized assistance throughout the process. By prioritizing student care, you contribute to a positive and seamless financial experience for our student community.

UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. 

  • Anticipated rate of $19.00/hr

What you’ll do:

  1. Federal Fund Management: Manage and monitor federal drawdowns for Pell grants and Direct Loan (DL) funds.
  2. Refund Processing: Ensure timely refunds of Pell and DL funds to the Department of Education (ED).
  3. Origination Oversight: Originate new Pell and DL funds as needed.
  4. Eligibility Monitoring: Review disbursements for eligibility prior to submitting to Common Origination & Disbursement (COD).
  5. Data Integrity and Reporting: Monitor Pell Multiple Reporting Records, process enrollment reporting in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and resolve daily errors from Common Origination & Disbursement (COD).
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High School Diploma, any advanced degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Title IV Regulations.
  • Eligible to access the National Student Loan Data Base (NSLDS).
  • Must not have a federal student loan appearing on the NSLDS database with an unresolved default status reported.
  • Skills – detail orientation, proactivity, teamwork, time management, and personal accountability.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Comprehensive experience with applications such as Campus Nexus.
  • Advanced knowledge/experience of/with Title IV Regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Other skills or abilities – customer service, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, problem-solving skills, and rapport building.

Compliance: 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable state laws and rules, federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and internal policies and procedures.  
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department. 
  • Participates in activities including, but not limited to, student recruitment activities and/or activities related to securing financial aid.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This is a full-time remote position, with only occasional, planned onsite or travel requirements.
  • Home office set up, quiet place to work, ability to be on camera, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
  • May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
