Purpose of the Position:
The Designer at our non-profit distance higher education institution plays a vital role in supporting the creative team by collaborating on diverse projects across print, digital, and multimedia platforms. This position involves generating fresh ideas and visually engaging presentations that align with our brand identity, while working closely with marketing and creative teams to effectively communicate complex ideas and data.
UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.
- Anticipated salary of $60,000 - $75,000; based on experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate on Design Solutions: Work with the creative director, senior designers, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into creative design solutions.
- Presentation Design: Create visually appealing presentations that adhere to brand guidelines and effectively communicate key messages, working closely with stakeholders and project managers.
- Graphic Creation: Design graphics, illustrations, and layouts for print and digital media, including brochures, flyers, social media posts, and website graphics.
- Slide and Infographic Design: Design and format slides, infographics, charts, and diagrams to enhance clarity and visual appeal, ensuring consistency with design principles and brand guidelines.
- Industry Trends: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in presentation and graphic design.
- Daily Graphic Design Projects: Assist in daily graphic design projects such as marketing collateral, social media graphics, email templates, and campaign designs.
- Creative Process Engagement: Engaged in the design process from brief to final pitch, working closely with project managers to absorb and implement creative ideas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in graphic design with agency or in-house with emphasis on presentation design.
- Skills – Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote, Google Slides, Prezi, Monday.com, DAM System (Bynder), Ziflow, portfolio showcasing, communication, interpersonal skills and collaboration.
- Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
- Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.
Preferred Requirements:
- Any degree or equivalent experience and/or strong or advanced proficiency in any of the above required skills/experience.
- Adobe Certified Expert (ACE), Certified Digital Designer (CDD), HubSpot Content Marketing Certification, or related certifications.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Other skills or abilities – animation and motion graphics, UX/UI principles, design thinking methodologies, video editing software, Canva and/or Figma.
Compliance:
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable state laws and rules, federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and internal policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- This is a full-time remote position.
- Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
